Face and Neck Lift Surgery
Endoscopic upper-face lift surgery is performed to transform the upper face area which sags in time with age or required by the patient to eliminate any structural sagging in order to maintain younger appearance. In this surgery, forehead lifting, temple lifting and eyebrow lifting are included individually respectively or the surgical intervention to be applied to the aforesaid three regions may be scheduled together.
If there is an age-related or structural sagging on the cheek and on upper lip region, an endoscopic mid-face lift procedure is advised to be performed. In most cases, the upper and middle face regions may not be considered independent of each other, so they must be harmonically and completely removed. The age of the person may go back to 10-15 years after this surgery. Since there is a strong tissue fixation during the surgery, there is a robust mechanism against both lifelong permanence and aging and gravity. The surgical technique is called endoscopic subperiosteal lifting. The more your surgeon is involved in endoscopic techniques, the better the technology and the experience he has, the more likely it is that the surgical outcome is excelled. In this operation, 3-4 incisions with a 1.5 cm diameter are made on the scalp of the forehead and temple area. With the help of a micro camera used in the endoscope, the lower part of the forehead, temple and cheek area is displayed, lifted, moved up and fixed by enlarging the image using the micro camera about 20 times.
How does the surgical process progress?
After this operation, which lasts for about 1.5 hours under general anesthesia, the person is kept under observation in the hospital for 1 night. Post-operative pain and soreness is not likely to occur in most cases, but rather a feeling of tightness may develop and a slight swelling of the region expected to last for 4-5 days may be experienced. After surgery, a permanent upper face lifting is acquired in the area and the facial lines along with the wrinkles are fixed. The temple and eye edge are pulled sideways and upwards and the cheek mound is lifted upwards and sideways to relieve under-eye fatigue. If the nasolabial lines on both sides of the mouth are felt uncomfortable yet the discomfort will gradually decrease over time. The effect of the operation lasts a lifetime, so it doesn’t need to be repeated again.
When is the convenient time to return back to social life?
Sutures that are hidden in the hairy forehead and temple skin are absorbed by themselves. It is possible to return back to work on the 5th – 7th day following the surgery. The patient may take a shower and even wash the hair two days after the operation. The hair may be dyed after 1 month. Sports activities can be practiced 2 weeks after the surgery. Care should be taken whilst exposed to the sun for 2-3 months after the operation.
